Entrance Requirements and Placement Prosess

Acceptance to the college does not guarantee placement in the program.

All students must complete an application to CSI. In order to apply for the Emergency Medical Technician program, the following items (Ithrough 4) should be on file in the Program Director's office. Items may be sent to Jim Palmer, College of Southern Idaho, P.O. Box 1238, Twin Falls, Idaho 833303-1238, or they may be taken directly to his office, Room 164A in the Aspen Building.

  • High school transcript and college transcript.
  • COMPASS test scores - scores determine placement in math, spelling, reading and vocabulary (can be taken in the Academic Development Center in Meyerhoeffer Building). Students should place at the English 101 and Math 108 level to be admitted to the EMT program.
  • Resume and cover letter (letter of intent to apply for the program).
  • Three professional letters of recommendation (must be sent directly to the program director).
  • Students placed in the program must have hepatitis B vaccination and tuberculin screening after placement in the program. They must also present evidence of good health with a statement from a physician, nurse or physical assistant practitioner and have an updated tetanus booster.
  • The deadline for application is 7 days before the start of each semester.

A new basic and intermediate EMT class will start each Spring and Fall semester. Continuing Education classes will be held on CSI campus and Micro Waved to CSI sites at Gooding, Hailey and Burley, practical labs may be at CSI Twin Falls or off campus depending on number of students at distance sites, at least 6
Rescue/Extrication classes will be provided as needed on a contract basis.
