Making a Difference in Peoples' Lives
The field of Human Services is a broadly defined one, uniquely approaching the objective of meeting human needs through an interdisciplinary knowledge base, focusing on prevention as well as remediation of problems and maintaining a commitment to improving the overall quality of life of service populations. The Human Services profession is one which promotes improved service delivery systems by addressing not only the quality of direct services, but by also seeking to improve accessibility, accountability, and coordination among professionals and agencies in service delivery.
Human Services worker roles include patient/client advocacy, case management, outreach and behavior change, teacher, caregiver and assistant to specialists. Jobs might be found in group homes, halfway houses, community mental health centers, psychiatric hospitals, life/social skill training centers, family/ child and youth service centers, residential/assisted living centers.
The Human Services program increases communication and caring skills of Allied Health care workers already employed. Nurses, CNAs, social and recreational workers in advocacy roles enhance their helping relational knowledge and skills.

AAS graduates of the Human Services or Addiction Studies program may now pursue their Bachelor of Science degree on-line through our partnership with the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh. For more information about the Bachelor’s program contact Mary Christy at 732-6713 or click here.
