The Medical Coding Certificate Program course of study is taught utilizing a series of four live, in-person classroom style coding courses (Medical Coding I-IV) in addition to pre- and co-requisite non-coding classes and a Practicum. This program prepares the student to perform the critical functions of a professional coder in a variety of settings, including physician offices, clinics, and hospitals. The program curriculum includes ICD-9-CM, CPT 4, and HCPCS Level II coding education. Upon completion of the program, the student may be eligible to sit for one of the AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) coding certification examinations or the AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) coding certification examinations.
